The future of agriculture

- To feed a growing population while protecting the planet, we need to close the yield gap in Africa and enlist the agriculture sector worldwide in combatting climate change through soil carbon sequestration and a reduction in water use.

- To do that, we must end the one-size-fits-all approach of applying fertilizers indiscriminately that has been at the heart of intensive agriculture for decades.

- At the same time, we must promote smart agriculture, based on customizing fertilizers, in regions characterized by historically low fertilizer application, such as Sub-Saharan Africa, to improve soil health and productivity.

- By restoring and maintaining soil health, farmers can play a decisive role in decarbonizing agriculture, protecting biodiversity, and improving the nutritional value of food.

- Decarbonizing agriculture isn't just a necessity to achieve carbon neutrality; it's a massive untapped opportunity.
